On Friday June 5th, a group of amazing Orlandoans came together to put on an event called Local Love Orlando.
It started with an idea by the good folks at CT Social to raise awareness about the Rethink Homelessness campaign by the Central Florida Commission on Homelessness.
The hand-painted map was designed and created by Hillery Brooks, Morgan Walker, Drew Powers, and Melissa Spilman. The underlying official neighborhood research was done by Nathan Selikoff. Photos were taken by Mike Spectacle and Jim Hobart. The design celebrates the unique personality of each downtown Orlando neighborhood and the people who live there.
Canvs generously donated their co-working space for the event. Farm-Haus, Rogue Pub, Chef Bob Aungst and Jillycakes each served complementary food to all. Nerd Nite Orlando, Orlando Bike Share, Orlando Conductor Crawl, Orlando Bike Tours, and Local Notebooks each donated items for a giveaway (to be announced soon!)

The planets Venus and Jupiter will be less than a half-degree apart in the evening sky — less than the width of the full moon!
Join the planetarium as we observe the two brightest planets at their closest approach in many years. In addition, both the moon and the planet Saturn will be prominently visible in the sky, making for an absolutely fantastic observing night!
Like all planetarium observing events, the Conjunction Observing Party is free and open to the public. Telescopes will be set up along the eastern sidewalk surrounding the pond in the center of the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus.
When: Tuesday, June 30, 2015 7:00pm – 11:00pm
Where: Buehler Planetarium at Seminole State College
100 Weldon Blvd, Sanford, Florida 32773
