Presentations:
“Bikeography 101” by Leslie Wolcott

Discuss the connections between human stories and transit-friendly policy in the City Beautiful as Leslie shares the details of her project “Orlando Bikeography”—a sharp contrast for a state best known for Florida Man and the mouse.

Leslie Wolcott writes, talks, and tweets for a living. She’s a triathlete living in the most dangerous city in the country for bicyclists and pedestrians, so she decided to become a spokes-person for the cause by curating narratives of people who ride here.

“A Cycle Track for Winter Park–How it Got Done” By Rick Geller

Rick Geller is a partner in the Winter Park Law Firm Fishback Dominick, where he litigates business disputes and land use entitlements. He graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and the Temple University School of Law, cum laude. Rick was an avid bicyclist in high school and rediscovered his passion for it only several years ago. He lives in Winter Park with his wife, Gabriela, a pediatrician, and their four kids.

“How to Not Die While Riding a Bike in Orlando” by Eliza Harris Juliano

In this presentation, Eliza will discuss how she rides the greater downtown Orlando area as a daily bike commuter and an urban planner. With a mix of safety tips, social criticism, and occasional hyperbole, she’ll explain how to ride safely in the City Beautiful.

Eliza Harris Juliano encountered the New Urbanism while pursuing a Biochemical Sciences degree at Harvard University. It immediately resonated with her contrasting experiences growing up in Manhattan and suburban South Carolina, and she vowed that no teen should be trapped in sprawl again. Today, she is the Director of Urbanism at Canin Associates in downtown Orlando where her team provides expertise to local governments and private developers on how to build better communities. She also serves on boards and committees that promote urban betterment locally and nationally (the Congress for the New Urbanism, Bike/Walk Central Florida, Winter Park Health Foundation Community Workgroup, Project DTO, Rethinking the City).
