ORLANDO, Fla. (Feb. 2, 2016) — Come see how grown-ups do the Science Center! Orlando Science Center is reserved strictly for adults at Science Night Live on Saturday, February 20 from 8–11 p.m. with grown-up-inspired programming. It’s social, it’s science, it’s 21 and up!

Enjoy a presentation about astrophotography with Seminole State College Planetarium Director Derek J. Demeter; get inspired by touring Fusion: A STEAM Gallery; experience National Parks Adventure in the Dr. Phillips CineDome; view stars and planets through the giant refractor telescope; conduct lab experiments; delight in food and adult beverages available for purchase; and engage in science trivia to win prizes!

Join us on a voyage through space and time as we explore the cosmos with Seminole State College Planetarium Director Derek J. Demeter during his presentation “Our Planet, Our Universe.” In this presentation and Q&A, visitors will learn about astrophotography, our ability to see the sky today, the impact of light pollution and how places like our national parks protect the last true dark places in this country.

Celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the national parks and discover the wild places that belong to all of us in National Parks Adventure! Narrated by Academy Award® winner Robert Redford, this giant screen film takes you on the ultimate off-trail adventure into our nation’s awe-inspiring great outdoors and untamed wilderness. Soar over red rock canyons, hurtle up craggy mountain peaks and dive into other-worldly realms deep within America’s most legendary outdoor playgrounds, including Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, Yosemite, and Arches. Be inspired to hike, climb and explore your way across America’s majestic parks with this action-packed cinematic expedition that will unlock the hidden adventurer within all of us.

Immerse yourself in works developed at the intersection of art and technology with the newest addition to the Science Center’s permanent exhibits. Discover Fusion: A STEAM Gallery, which integrates the arts into the STEM curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and features exhibitions to engage audiences with a visual interpretation of these concepts. Now on display, “THE 2016 UCF STEAM EXHIBITION – When Art and Science Meet,” featuring works created by the students of UCF CREATE.
Visitors will also enjoy the Crosby Observatory and peer up into the night sky through the 10-inch refractor telescope — one of the largest in the state available to the public. View moons, planets and deep sky objects such as galaxies, nebulas and more. Interact with astronomy experts who will help you get the best views of the next sky over Orlando. This activity is weather-permitting.

Indulge in all four floors of exhibits including “NatureWorks”; “Science Park”; “Idea Factory;” “Engineer It!”; “Our Planet, Our Universe”; and “DinoDigs”; plus try hands-on experiment in Dr. Dare’s Laboratory. Then, fire up your brain and get your competitive juices flowing with some bar-style science trivia! Test your science knowledge in several categories to win prizes!

After working up an appetite, enjoy scrumptious foods and adult beverages available for purchase courtesy of Hard Rock Café. They will be featuring select items from their award-winning menu! Stop by their booth for a taste! Cash or credit cards are accepted and ATMs are on-site for your convenience.
