Nerd Nite Orlando recently celebrated its 5-year anniversary and announced production of a documentary film.
This documentary will explore the decentralized structure of Nerd Nite, its infectious spreading to new cities all around the world and how it has helped people gain confidence, discover their identity, and build meaningful relationships.
The modest budget will help to cover production costs; including equipment rentals, staff hires, travel, and festival submissions.
Production of the project will begin June 2018 with an expected completion by September 2018.
For over three years, Nerd Nite has held dozens of events in Orlando, showing that our city is full of brilliant and interesting people. In creating this monthly platform for many of our citizens to present their ideas, we’ve built a strong dense community of people who are eager to discuss and debate. We are the healthy reminder that learning is fun… and its even more fun when you’re drinking with your friends.
Nerd Nite Orlando is about all of you. Your talks, your discussions, and for that reason our monthly events have always been absolutely FREE to attend– but today we need your help.
For the third year Nerd Nite teams from around the country, will be assembling in San Diego this July for a special Comic Con edition of our monthly event and this year, for the first time ever, we will have one of our best Orlando speakers in the official lineup.
There’s nothing we want more than to give Orlando a huge presence in this massive event. Please consider making a contribution and help us send Nerd Nite Orlando to Comic Con 2016.
Nerd Nite Orlando’s 3 Year Anniversary held at The Abbey and presented in part by Downtown Arts District. Appetizers provided by Daya Restuarant with presentations by Max Jackson, Anjali Sareen, and Griffin Lunn. Hosted by Ricardo Williams

The first Town Hall from Nerd Nite Orlando will be on Monday, June 29th, 7:30pm at Effin Amazing (1016 W Church St, Orlando, Florida 32805)
On Friday June 5th, a group of amazing Orlandoans came together to put on an event called Local Love Orlando.
It started with an idea by the good folks at CT Social to raise awareness about the Rethink Homelessness campaign by the Central Florida Commission on Homelessness.
The hand-painted map was designed and created by Hillery Brooks, Morgan Walker, Drew Powers, and Melissa Spilman. The underlying official neighborhood research was done by Nathan Selikoff. Photos were taken by Mike Spectacle and Jim Hobart. The design celebrates the unique personality of each downtown Orlando neighborhood and the people who live there.
Canvs generously donated their co-working space for the event. Farm-Haus, Rogue Pub, Chef Bob Aungst and Jillycakes each served complementary food to all. Nerd Nite Orlando, Orlando Bike Share, Orlando Conductor Crawl, Orlando Bike Tours, and Local Notebooks each donated items for a giveaway (to be announced soon!)
The photo by former Nerd Nite speaker and astrophotographer Derek Demeter is entitled “Milky Way-By-The-Sea”. It was taken at Canaveral National Seashore, just south of New Smyrna Beach or less than an hour from downtown Orlando. The photo will be featured at the SNAP! “You are Here” photography show starting on Thursday, May 21st at City Arts Factory.
